 Our apartment building. The
missing roof plate, made of ceramic and measuring about 15 feet by 30 feet,
fell not more than one car length from my car (about where I am standing). If
the wind had been just 10% more towards the north, I'd be buying another car.
The wind and rain was so bad that our apartment (the bottom left partial
window) had about 1 quart of water come in through the windows, even though
they were closed. We were the southernmost building with any significant
damage.

appartamento. Il soffito, 5m x 10m e fatto di ceramica, e' caduto
solo 3 metri dalla mia macchina (circa da dove ho scattato la foto). Se il
direzione del vento fosse stato solo 10% piu' verso il nord, avrei bisogna di
un altra macchina. Il vento e la pioggia era cosi' grande che 1 litro di aqua
e' entrata nella nostra stanza (finestra giu' sulla sinistra nella foto). Il
nostro appartamento era quello piu' sud con danni significati. |

Dozens of trees and telephone
poles were felled by the winds. The Valea Iasului hospital where we work was
without power the next day. Further northeast towards Campulung,
the damage was even greater.
