Enjoying Our Gifts: A Devotional“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of working, but it is the same God who inspires them all in every one.”---Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians 12:4-6. “In Christ we learn that each gift needs the other to complement its weakness and magnify its strength.” “Mercy people need prophets to strengthen their view of truth and sin. Prophets need mercy people to teach them about compassion. Leaders need process persons- -without them nothing would ever get done completely or well. And administrators need leaders to give them a goal to manage. Helpers need the analytical types to teach them about helping where it is important and save them from the drain of over-commitment. The analytical need aggressive helpers to teach them to get busy in the lives of others.”---Joseph Stowell. Following Christ p. 172. A friend of mine recently blessed me with an e-mail where she asked, “If you had to name the top three projects that you are now working on, what would they be?” Go Ye Fellowship has also been encouraging me to focus and not take on too many projects. As one who is an extremely energetic idea person, I usually run on all cylinders. I try to motivate and organize others to see what the Lord is doing and to join in. Since I am good at a lot of things, I get jealous of those who are VERY good at one thing. God sends me process people to remind me to structure my time and stick to the task at hand. If I lose my focus on our being one body in Christ, this could make me feel limited or afraid that I might have 30 seconds of time that is non-productive. I sometimes find it difficult to work if there is too much or too little structure. Praise God Who knows I need people to complement my weaknesses with their strengths. Who is it in your life with whom you find it difficult to work? Is it because their strengths show your weakness? If so, let us put down our pride and thank God and that other person for being on our team serving the Lord in excellence. Let the other person use his or her gifts to complement yours. This equips the Body of Christ for reaching the world with the love and truth of the Gospel. --- Aramus Crane © Aramus Crane I Liked that. Show me another one. If you
