OBJECTIVES | METHODS | COLLABORATION
QUALITY ASSURANCE
Objectives for First
Year:
-
Provide a location where parents can find
literature, get advice, and find answers to their questions.
-
Collect and disseminate information,
including risk factors, vectors of transmission, etc. with the
intention to develop in the community a proper response to
children with AIDS.
-
Create a database regarding the
proliferation of AIDS in the community, treatment administered,
and results. This information would be formatted for wide
dissemination.
-
Collect information about the work of
other groups locally, domestically, and internationally.
Methods:
-
Select and hire staff: 1
researcher/counselor and 1 public educator.
-
Obtain a facility and create conditions
conducive to counseling and research.
-
Two months before opening the Resource
Center, host a round table attended by: parents of children
with AIDS, government officials, and the mass media. Topic for
discussion is the public opinion regarding what services would
be useful.
-
Offer ongoing medical, social, and
educational counseling for families affected by AIDS.
-
Organize and hold 2 student conferences
in 2 schools to educate children about HIV.
-
Write and submit 12 press releases,
produce 4 radio spots, and 2 television spots regarding the
activities of the entire SCOP AIDS program.
-
Disseminate brochures about HIV in
schools and public areas.
-
Create a database of the proliferation of
AIDS in the community, treatment administered, and results
which then can be disseminated in the community.
Collaboration
Close ties will be pursued with other foreign and
domestic AIDS organizations, with government officials, and with
educators to ensure this program maximizes community impact.
Quality Assurance
During the first month of operation, a customer
satisfaction questionnaire will be developed. This questionnaire survey
will be used regularly to determine level of parental satisfaction.
Using Total Quality Management methods, the staff will evaluate
results, monitor trends in that satisfaction and discuss improvements.
After 3 months, customer satisfaction goals will be set.
At the beginning and end of the year, we will
test school children on their knowledge of AIDS-related issues.
Quarterly reports will be written to inform donors of the current status
of the program, the budget, the relationship with the public, the
partners, customer satisfaction, and of the objectives for the next
quarter. After one year, a meeting will be held with the mass media,
government, and parents to discuss the results of the program.
