Dear Mr. Glodo, Greetings in the Awesome name of Jesus. You may remember my letter back in July. As you suggested, I addressed my issues to Rev. Jacob. As you could probably guess from their history and from the Ann Arbor culture, their clerk stated that they had no interest in our request for an investigation of our allegations of ethical misconduct. Pulling a verse out of its context in the New Testament, he stated that we should peacefully agree to disagree with the decisions made. My Advisors and we took absolutely no issue with decisions made but with the lies, manipulations and conduct of some of the leadership. Through promises and advice they had us spend a lot of money to go minister somewhere and then stopped supporting us with no discussion of why. One group I know of that did that was sued by the missionary and was awarded a court settlement. It is a shame that the non-believers have to discipline the Church when it won't police its own conduct. Maybe this will have to be the case with us, also, but first we would like to call your attention to the matter. Unlike the culture in which they find themselves, we don't believe that political correctness should cover deliberate violations of Scripture as one third of a verse in the New Testament may be construed to support. Matthew 18 would seem to indicate otherwise and we would like to follow that in requesting someone be appointed by the EPC to investigate both sides in the dispute. As I wrote before, the issue is the following: I was a financial supporter of Knox since joining in 1995 and their laying hands on me to go into missions in 1996. The church graciously started supporting our work in 1998. The Missions Committee did not want me to be working alone as a missionary. So, to my team of Romanian coworkers, I added a helpmate in my wife Aurelia, whom I flew to the US to Pastor Frison for his approval (which he gave) before our wedding. Instead of being happy with our following their guidance and increasing the support to cover the increase in expenses, they added more conditions. In November 2002, Pastor Lynn encouraged me to get a "Team - ...to support and sustain" me, and two other tasks that I did. Working in Romania, we had a team of Romanians as is advocated by the training I attended on their urging, Perspectives in World Missions. The closest American teammates in my sending mission were in Germany. So although my supporters didn't understand Knox's advice that ran contrary to Perspectives, they supported the entire financial burden of our move. We believed that Knox would be responsible enough to support at least a portion of the increase in living expenses. Instead they cut off support completely. When my Advisory Board and I pursued reasons for their actions, Janet Chen, a member of the Missions Committee told one Board member that they had never planned to support us more than one year. Simultaneously, they were putting financial burdens on us. Due to Knox, we have had to leave the mission field. This has greatly traumatized my wife, causing her depression and stress. We consider this conduct immoral, if not illegal. Many have been leaving Knox, and they attribute it to the changes in leadership. I would disagree. As we take this issue to higher and higher authorities, we wanted to give you the chance to address it. Please inform me how to initiate an investigation. Thank you and God bless. In the name of Christ, |
